The Right America, Republican Comeback Edition

What a great couple of days for America! The baseball games have been great (despite the fact that I wanted the Phillies to win it in 4 or 5 games). Major financial corporations are showing great signs of growth and prosperity. Of course, Christie and McDonnell win MAJOR victories in their states; states that Barack Obama carried handily just one short year ago. My oh my how the times have changed.

Depending on which end of the political spectrum you sit is how you view Obama's role in the defeat of his party on election day 2009. This begs the question: is this the beginning of the end for Democratic power in America.

How far we've come already eh? It seems like just one year ago the Republicans were irrelevant. Republicans were out of the mainstream. Republicans needed to dig deep and analyze their role in American government. New Jersey and Virginia are not Republican strongholds folks. I remember the conversation about how "blue" the map was getting...and now NEW JERSEY has a REPUBLICAN Governor for the first time in 12 years!!!

In his October newsletter address to RNC faithful, Chairman Steele reported 21.5 million in cash on hand... compared to the 15 million for the Democrats. The Democrats also has $5 million in debt (ACORN worker salaries?) with the RNC reporting no debt. The average gift was $42 to the RNC according to Chairman Steele, proving many low dollar donations for the "rich white guy" party.

The RNC also launched a new "Women's Network", trying to prove that Republicans have the ideas and the values that are best for women and their families. Pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-life ideas that support the health and wealth of women.

The question that is ultimately being asked: is all politics local or did Obama contribute to Republican victories? I will make the argument that it wasn't Obama, it was Obama's bad ideas. His health care takeover that he claims is just another option, the American people are smarter than that. They see through his rhetoric and realize that his health care plan will have to increase taxes on the middle class while taking money out of Medicare and Medicaid for his 1.6 TRILLION dollar plan. They see his lies.

They see his lies when he said he didn't want to take over the car companies but he worked out a deal that gave 80 percent ownership to his administration and the union bosses. They see his lies when he says that he believes Afghanistan is a war of necessity but who won't give the generals on the ground what they've asked for over 80 days ago. They see through his "change" rhetoric that has increased the deficit, cost millions of jobs and has decreased his approval rating to about 50%.

Barack Obama is losing and has lost many of the independent voters who backed him based on his empty promises and rock star cred which has not closed Guantanamo Bay, which has rushed through a $787 billion dollar stimulus and of which we have not seen the jobs being created or "saved" (claiming you save jobs is an incredibly ballsy move) and those voters have seen enough. They thought they voted in change one year ago...they got the wrong change.

Is this a Republican comeback? Too early to tell. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi should take a lesson from Tuesday, 2010 is theirs to lose. Prove to the American people that you are hearing them, not just 51%. Don/t be cocky and arrogant and think that the election of 2008 is continuing to give you unprecedented power, the election of 2009 in Obama winning states is proving otherwise.

Republicans, hear me now. Continue to put YOUR PLANS out there. Make it known what your plans are. Continue to stand for fiscal responsibility. Continue to stand for a strong military. Continue to push this administration to be an open administration instead of the "rush through Congress" administration is has been over its 10 months in office. 2010 could be a make or break year for Republicans. I, for one, can't wait to sit in my living room next year at this time and see Arlen Specter finally tossed from office. Bye Bye Benedict.
