So, the dental appointment wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It all started on Tuesday when I got (what I thought was) a toothache. Bear in mind that I haven't been to the dentist for a check-up/cleaning in years. Naturally, my first thought was, 'Well, the jig is up. I finally have a cavity from not having a regular check-up.' I immediately scheduled an 'emergency' dental visit thinking that at the very worst they would be pulling out a tooth (or two) -- at the very best I would hear a drill.
Luckily (and I do mean luck was involved), neither happened.
After I told him about my embarrassing dental exam history and what was going on, the Doc looked in my mouth and said, 'Everything looks fine. Really. I think that you were just feeling guilty.' He suggested that I get an x-ray just to be sure, but that as far as he could tell there was no problem, save for years of plaque build-up.
I got the x-rays done and four minutes later (literally) my dentist told me that despite years without an exam, I had perfectly healthy teeth. Dirty to be sure, but healthy.
How friggin' cool is that?!
So, after a brutal cleaning session with a dental hygienist named Amy, my teeth are cleaner than they have been since before my wedding. I have to go back in one month for another battery of cleaning (because they were that bad), but then I'll be back on track. I've got a new dental health outlook!
Today, TPW is home sick from work and I watched a friend's daughter for a chunk of the day -- hence the lack of posts. Sorry to worry two of you.
Have a great weekend and I'll be back to your regularly scheduled posting on Monday.
