Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones
"John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic," Obama continued. "You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness."So we, those who believe those who study hard, work hard, play hard, etc deserve the money/success/fame they have acheived are now being selfish? I wonder what Obama would think about this study on his VP?Per the NR, here is a chart of the Bidens’ giving for the years covered by the tax returns:
Adjusted Gross Income Charity
1998 $215,432 $195
1999 $210,797 $120
2000 $219,953 $360
2001 $220,712 $360
2002 $227,811 $260
2003 $231,375 $260
2004 $234,271 $380
2005 $321,379 $380
2006 $248,459 $380
2007 $319,853 $995
Looks like Joe from Scranton might be a little selfish too.

Goin down down baby
First $250K
Then $200K
Then $150K
NOW...$120K???
"What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those," Bill Richardson said in the interview, according to a clip posted on YouTube.

Who would you want for Senator? The baseless attacking Dole or the truth speaking Sunday school teacher who cares more about creating jobs?

CBS = No Credibility
In the latest CBS poll
(CBS) With less than one week until Election Day, Barack Obama maintains a clear lead over John McCain in the presidential race, a new CBS News/New York Times poll suggests. The Democratic nominee now leads his Republican rival by 11 percentage points, 52 percent to 41 percent, among likely voters nationwide.
So here's my question. If this becomes a 2-3 point race in the end...does this make a CBS poll no longer credible. Zogby, Rasmussen, etc...they are all showing a 2-6 point race...but CBS at 11 points.
Will they be held accountable?!

Obama 3 - McCain 2
The score is the number of reporters who the campaigns have booted from airplanes.
The New York Post and Dallas Morning News also have been kicked off Obama's plane, according to the Web site The Drudge Report. It said the three reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate "network bigwigs" and reporters from two black magazines, Essence and Jet. The Washington Times reported Friday that it was notified of the Obama campaign's decision Thursday evening -- even though the paper has covered Obama from the start.

Unbelievable
Seriously. This guy thinks that Barack Obama is the son of Malcolm X. It's not a joke.
Read it. Unreal.
Tinfoil hat-worthy reporting.

Democrat Overconfidence...Again?!
I can remember it like it was yesterday. Sitting in my college apartment...5 days out from election day...John Kerry holding a nice lead in the polls over George W Bush. And then what happened!? George W Bush wins again...and becomes President in 2004.
I was reading the Cafferty File tonight and couldn't help but notice the first 5 blog posts say this:

That’s easy Jack all he has to do is apologize for his actions throughout the campaign and endorse Obama.

October 30th, 2008 1:44 pm ETNOW...I'm not saying McCain has this thing locked up by any stretch of the imagination. BUT...can we see the liberal ignorance and arrogance in just the first 5 blog posts? I didn't cherrypick...they are really the first 5. Interesting eh?!
Hi Jack,
I live in Arizona and I have made up my mind and already voted for Obama. If I was undecided, his nasty robocalls in Arizona would surely push me away! I hope he continues to waste his money here, defending his HOME state.

Personally, I don’t think there are any “undecided” (air quotes like McCain uses) voters out there. I think these “undecided voters” are people just looking for attention. If you claim to be “undecided”, do us all a favor, and stay home on Tuesday…this election is over anyway. Obama will clear 300 electoral votes.

John McCain can’t do anything in the final days to win over voters. I believe if a person hasn’t made up their mind yet they have no intention of voting. Of course that is just my humble opinion.

Even if the Undecided’s broke for McCain by a 3 to 1 margin, it still probably wouldn’t be enough to win the election. That’s how far back he is.
John McCain: Race-Baiter?

Sullivan:
I think that what Moody was saying is that John McCain's campaign -- or more specifically a portion of his supporters -- are race-baiters and that fact would forever haunt the campaign itself. When writing the history of the 2008 presidential election, race-baiting by a small minority of McCain/Palin supporters will indeed be a notable entry.
Oh, and for those of you who are a dumbass like me, 'quis tacet consentire' means 'thus, silence gives consent' or 'he who is silent is taken to agree'. Yeah, I had to look that up.
The great thing about the blogosphere is that you can say something but you then have to stand by it. On October 23, John Moody, executive vice-president of Fox News, wrote the following sentence:While I see Sullivan's point, I don't see how McCain himself can be classified as a race-baiter. The woman who carved the now-infamous 'B' on her face -- indeed she is a race-baiter. If John McCain had somehow put the woman up to perpetrating these shenanigans then, yes, John McCain could be accused of race-baiting.If the [Pittsburgh] incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.Since then, since we discovered it was a hoax, Moody has been silent. Quis tacet consentire. The view of the executive vice-president of Fox News is that John McCain is a race-baiter. Worth remembering.

30.1 Million People
... watched the 'Barack-umentary' last night. Including myself. And B-Diddy.
That's a lot of friggin' households who tuned in to watch the Democratic nominee make his case. It turns out that number actually boosted network ratings (as compared to a normal Wednesday evening).
I wonder if it helped Obama's campaign...

Bill Clinton Called Me
I just got off of the phone with former president Bill Clinton. No kidding.
Granted, it wasn't much of a conversation. He went on and on about how I should make sure that I not only vote for the next president on Tuesday -- but that I should make sure to vote for all of the down-ballot races. If I want to enact real change, bot in Washington, D.C. and in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, I should be sure to 'pull the level to vote a straight Democratic ticket', he said.
I really didn't say much.
Thanks for the call, Mr. President.

Let's talk about race baby
I was reading an article on MSNBC (I dont know why I was wasting my time on the Olbermann/Maddow networks website) but I found this somewhat ironic.
They were writing an artcile about athletes supporting Obama and McCain. And they chose to list the following.
Retired athletes Patrick Ewing, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Muhammad Ali and Charles Barkley are supporting Obama. Retired athletes John Elway, Troy Aikman, Nolan Ryan and Jack Nicklaus are backing McCain.
Any see what I'm seeing?!

McCain: 'Oh, He's Not A Socialist'
Double-speak:
Haven't John McCain and Sarah Palin been throwing the idea out there that Barack Obama IS a socialist? Have I been missing something?
[Larry] KING: You don't believe Barack Obama is a socialist do you? From Larry King's interview with McCain last night.
[Senator John] MCCAIN: "No, but i do believe that he has been in the far left of American politics and stated time after time that he believes in spreading the wealth around. He has talked about courts that redistribute the wealth. He has a record of voting against tax cuts. And for tax increases."
Haven't John McCain and Sarah Palin been throwing the idea out there that Barack Obama IS a socialist? Have I been missing something?
Still Fighting
Despite the feeling in the air that this election is all over...this news comes out today.
As the candidates make their closing arguments before the election, the race has tightened with Barack Obama now leading John McCain by 47 percent to 44 percent among likely voters, according to a FOX News poll released Thursday. Last week Obama led by 49-40 percent among likely voters.
Don't forget New Hampshire...we "McCainiacs" are keeping up the fight for what we believe in most: strong military, capitalism, right to life for all humans (even those unborn), new energy plans including nuclear and drilling and judges with a strict interpretation of the constitution.
And I keep hearing Obama talk about being our brother's keeper...what about our Aunt's keeper?
Barack Obama has lived one version of the American dream that has taken him to the steps of the White House. But a few miles from where the Democratic presidential candidate studied at Harvard, his Kenyan aunt and uncle, immigrants living in modest circumstances in Boston, have a contrasting American story. Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Obama's best-selling memoir "Dreams fFrom My Father," lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston. A second relative believed to be the long-lost "Uncle Omar" described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a "sawed-off rifle" while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom apartment for failing to pay $2,324.20 in bills, according to the Boston Housing Court.
Talk about your eloquent rhetoric...and I hope in these last 5 days the American people are really thinking about what they're hearing. A "too good to be true" plan for America where the record doesn't match the rhetoric.

Where's Joe?
Did J.T. Plumber stand-up John McCain?
You know, 'cause he's a regular guy...
While riffing on a common line from his stump speech about Obama's desire to "spread the wealth," McCain confidently proclaimed, "Joe's with us today. Joe where are ya? Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today? Joe, I thought you were here today."Perhaps ol' Joe was off recording his new country music album.
Then the senator covered up for Joe's absence by saying, "All right, well you're all Joe the Plumber. So all of ya stand up ,and say I thank you." McCain went on to say that he had seen Joe on TV this morning, and he asked the crowd to "give him a round of applause for what he's done for America.
You know, 'cause he's a regular guy...
McCain Disses Penn State President
Strange -- even for the McCain campaign:
A McCain-Palin campaign official snubbed the president of Penn State University who inquired about attending a campus speech Tuesday by Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, university officials told ABCNews.com.He may be a Democrat, but he's the friggin' president of the University. Surely the president of the United States would entertain the notion of a liberal leader visiting from a foreign country, no?
"He's a big Democrat. Why would he want to meet Palin?" campaign aide Russ Bermel allegedly asked a school employee who was hoping to make arrangements for president Graham B. Spanier to meet Palin, according to Spanier's office.
Whack-Jobs
Roger Simon has an interesting piece on the McCain/Palin campaign relationship. He also takes a few shots at the Chattering Class:
...McCain picked [Palin] anyway. He wanted to close the “enthusiasm gap” between himself and Barack Obama. He wanted to inject a little adrenaline into the Republican National Convention. He wanted to goose up the Republican base.Har har.
And so he chose Palin. Is she really a diva and a whack job? Could be. There are quite a few in politics. (And a few in journalism, too, though in journalism they are called “columnists.”)
Wake Up: Obama Is Not A Muslim
Poll: 23% of Texans think Obama is a Muslim:
The Obama-is-a-Muslim confusion is caused by fallacious Internet rumors and radio talk-show gossip. McCain went so far at one of his town hall meetings to grab a microphone from a woman who claimed that Obama was an Arab.I can't say that I'm surprised. I still get e-mails forwarded to me by an uncle of mine who lives in Texas. They are usually extremely vitriolic and hateful, not to mention completely false. It's sad.
The Texas numbers are unusual because most national polls show that just 5 to 10 percent of Americans still believe Obama is a Muslim — less than half the number of Texans who buy into the debunked theories.
What's Going On?
What does this mean?

Five Days
Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday that I was contemplating the winners and losers of Republican and Democratic primary debates...
Wow.
Wow.
Rich keep getting poor?
So all throughout this campaign season the magic number for "rich" was $250K. Last night I watched the Hollywood release of "Obama" on TV before the fightin Phils won the World Series (holla PA!) and I noticed Obama said rich was now $200K. Just the other day, "Vp Biden" said it was $150. Hmmmmmm...I'm noticing a trend.
It won't be long before rich is any family that has an income and pays taxes because they can afford to "spread the wealth around" to those that don't.
Get ready for some tax-raising should Obama win on Tuesday. If my taxes go up under Obama...I'm calling you all out on it.

'A Visual Scented Candle'
Mika Brzezinski on Morning Joe just described Barack Obama's 30-minute ad buy as a "visual scented candle". Interesting.

Oh, and I almost went to bed and forgot.... Congratulations to the Phillies. I know that my Pittsburgh buds are likely pretty pissed right now...
Bully day for Phillies fans though!
Barack Obama's Big Commercial
I thought the commercial was good. It hit all of the bases that the Obama campaign needed to cover.
It provided background information for those Americans who still believe the hateful smear e-mails about Obama that clog their inbox.
It provided a vehicle for him to talk about his plans for the economy, energy, health care, etc. Because it wasn't a press conference or a debate, nobody could question his plans. He just laid them out.
Most importantly, it was emotional. The families that the commercial profiled were real families with real stories. It really tugged at one's heart-strings. The Pajama Wife got weepy (The Pajama Pundit however did not).
My one criticism is this: I wish that the pundits would stop calling it an 'infomercial'. Ron Popeil does infomercials. Barack Obama (and John McCain) do political advertising.

More On 'Joe The Plumber' (Ugh)
Is it me, or is the McCain campaign showing an increasing obsession with this guy? I mean, seriously?
Gov. Sarah Palin apparently got so excited that she momentarily granted [Joe The Plumber] the honored double status of veteran and Frontier State native: “He’s a fellow Alaska[n], and he’s a fellow military man who has served our country proudly. I’d like you to meet him.”Head nod: Dish
He is neither. But then again, his name isn’t Joe and he isn’t a plumber. So, really, who’s to blame her for getting a little carried away?
'Godless'
Seriously Elizabeth Dole, who cares? This smells like a baseless attack ad to me:
Geez.
The ad ends with a female voice declaring, "There is no God." That quote is delivered by someone who sounds like Hagan, but those words have never been said by the candidate.Yikes. You don't want to add 'terrorist sympathizer and pedophile' to the charges? Hell, it seems like you are making everything else up...
The Dole campaign says it's basing its charge on Hagan's attendance at a fundraiser that was in the home of an advisor to the Godless Americans’ political action committee, a group that promotes rights for atheists.
In a conference call with reporters Wednesday, Hagan said she has never heard of the Godless PAC and said the fundraiser in question had more than 40 hosts, including Sen. John Kerry. She also said she has contacted her lawyers to issue a cease-and-desist order on the commercial.
Geez.
When Nancy Rules the Roost
Prior to the 2006 election:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.10 a gallon
3) Unemployment is up to 5 % (a 10% increase)
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses)
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure
7) Food prices skyrocketing over 30% in 1 year

Oh Come On
Jeebus people -- what's with the f**kin' effigies?
Seriously. Do you have so much time on your hands that hanging a likeness of Barack Obama from a tree sounds like a great idea?
This is a non-partisan issue for me because some liberal whack-job strung up an effigy of Sarah Palin the other day as well. It's not funny no matter who is the inconsiderate a**hole.
What's with the effigies people? Come on!
There is some time (probably in the neighborhood of a couple of hours?) that you could have better used by serving the less fortunate at a soup kitchen. You could have volunteered your time at a library. Hell, you could have jotted down your frustrations with your political-would-be-effigy on a neat-o blog like this one.
But stringing up an overgrown voodoo doll? What the hell kind of signal does that send? Particularly in Kentucky...

Big Changes
Life-changing decisions are being made in the Pajama Household right now. Scary stuff. But in a good way.
I'll divulge more in the coming week (after the election most likely), but know that I hopefully will not be hindered in my writing here -- no matter the changes that our family goes through.
More to come.

RE: Maybe I should reconsider BHO?
A point-by-point rebuttal (because apparently I'm in the rebutting B-Diddy business today):
Just as the left was scared of George W. Bush overturning Roe v. Wade in 2000 and 2004, the right is now afraid that an Obama administration will make all Americans gay communists or something. It's not going to happen folks. Just as W. did not overturn Roe v. Wade, Obama would govern from the middle. It would be political suicide NOT to. After all, he would want to be re-elected in 2012, no?
I know that I haven't hit every point here -- and Diddy will likely call me out on those that I didn't have time to hit. Maybe I'll get to them later -- until then thanks for reading.
This is a guy who doesn't think we should have tax increases on the middle class despite voting against the Bush tax cuts which would've raised taxes on those making $42K a year. You are wrong. This is a lame McCain campaign talking point that has been debunked numerous times.
This is a guy who believes we can compromise on abortion despite saying "the first thing I would do as President is sign the freedom of choice act" which will remove restrictions on partial birth abortion.Where have you seen this? I could not find any statement by Obama to this effect...
This is a guy who surrounds himself with only the most pro-American thinkers because who he was friends with in the past has nothing to do with his life now.So, here the assertion is that Obama only surrounds himself with 'anti-American thinkers', no? So, Colin Powell is anti-American? He was a general in the military -- what do you have against the troops Diddy? (you see how this works... I can ratchet up the snark-level here too)
This is a guy who believes the best way to create jobs and productivity is to spread the wealth around to those who don't even pay income taxesAh... the ol' socialist charge. My rebuttal to that is here. McCain also wants to 'spread the wealth' around.
This is a guy who claims rich is $250K per family despite Joe Biden saying it was $150K.This is relevant, how? So Biden misspoke or something... what's that have to do with Obama? It hasn't changed his tax plan.
This is a guy who understands all kinds of Americans including those who "cling to their guns and religion".Obama has talked about this. He is a religious guy and will protect the Second Amendment just as much as McCain. I don't understand how this is a bad thing. Are the 'real Americans' going to be upset by it?
Lastly, this is a guy who will definetely not sit alongside Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and watch them run this country in a depression with increased taxes and liberal ideology because they could have a veto-proof Senate major[i]ty.And there it is. "Liberal ideology". That's what conservatives are afraid of gang. Free abortions for everyone. Gay weddings for everyone. Public displays of sodomy everywhere you look. Give me a friggin' break.

Maybe I should reconsider BHO?
I was driving to work this morning and thinking that maybe I have been too rough on BHO and maybe I should consider a vote. I mean after all...
This is a guy who likes to challenge his own party on ideas despite voting with them 97% of the time. This is a guy who doesn't think we should have tax increases on the middle class despite voting against the Bush tax cuts which would've raised taxes on those making $42K a year. This is a guy who believes we can compromise on abortion despite saying "the first thing I would do as President is sign the freedom of choice act" which will remove restrictions on partial birth abortion. This is a guy who surrounds himself with only the most pro-American thinkers because who he was friends with in the past has nothing to do with his life now. This is a guy who will appoint only the most qualified judges to the bench despite voting against Alito and Roberts (who of course were very qualified for their posts). This is a guy who believes the best way to create jobs and productivity is to spread the wealth around to those who don't even pay income taxes because Joe Smith in Camden, NJ is ready to create jobs if he only had the tax break to do it. This is a guy with a record of governing from the middle despite being called the "most liberal Senator in the US" by the National Journal. This is a guy with an extensive resume in foreign affairs including speaking in front of 200,000 people in a foreign country. This is a guy who can admit victory is occuring in Iraq despite the word victory ever coming out of this lips. This is a guy who claims rich is $250K per family despite Joe Biden saying it was $150K. This is a guy who understands all kinds of Americans including those who "cling to their guns and religion". Lastly, this is a guy who will definetely not sit alongside Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and watch them run this country in a depression with increased taxes and liberal ideology because they could have a veto-proof Senate majorty.
Oh boy...that last line made me think again. I think I need a Tums.

B-Diddy's Allegations
In a posting earlier today, Diddy was clearly referencing this story from the L.A. Times. I am an Obama 'fan', as he puts it, and he claims that folks like me continually call him a 'distractor' when issues like this pop up.
For once I will indulge his biases and investigate this story a little deeper. From the LAT:
More:
Now, if the complaint is that the L.A. Times isn't releasing the video-tape of the event, there is also an explanation for that (completely independent of the Obama campaign, I might add):
I emphasized that portion of the quote because, holy shit... SIX MONTHS AGO? REALLY? If this is best 'scandal' you've got brewing Diddy, I wish you luck.
I'm done distracting.
:)
For once I will indulge his biases and investigate this story a little deeper. From the LAT:
His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases. . . . It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."Okaaaaay... so what's the big deal here? It seems to me that Barack Obama has challenged himself politically by having conversations with people that he might not normally agree with. Isn't that what we do here? Isn't that what I do when I speak with my father-in-law about politics?
Today, five years later, Obama is a U.S. senator from Illinois who expresses a firmly pro-Israel view of Middle East politics, pleasing many of the Jewish leaders and advocates for Israel whom he is courting in his presidential campaign. The dinner conversations he had envisioned with his Palestinian American friend have ended. He and Khalidi have seen each other only fleetingly in recent years.
And yet the warm embrace Obama gave to Khalidi, and words like those at the professor's going-away party, have left some Palestinian American leaders believing that Obama is more receptive to their viewpoint than he is willing to say.
More:
At Khalidi's 2003 farewell party, for example, a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, "then you will never see a day of peace."Again, I don't understand why Diddy (and many conservatives in the blogo-world) are freaking out about this. It seems VERY innocuous to me.
One speaker likened "Zionist settlers on the West Bank" to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been "blinded by ideology."
Obama adopted a different tone in his comments and called for finding common ground. But his presence at such events, as he worked to build a political base in Chicago, has led some Palestinian leaders to believe that he might deal differently with the Middle East than either of his opponents for the White House.
Now, if the complaint is that the L.A. Times isn't releasing the video-tape of the event, there is also an explanation for that (completely independent of the Obama campaign, I might add):
"The Los Angeles Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided to us by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it," said the newspaper's editor, Russ Stanton. "The Times keeps its promises to sources."My emphasis.
Jamie Gold, the newspaper's readers' representative, said in a statement: "More than six months ago the Los Angeles Times published a detailed account of the events shown on the videotape. The Times is not suppressing anything. Just the opposite -- the L.A. Times brought the matter to light."
The original article said that Obama's friendships with Palestinian Americans in Chicago and his presence at Palestinian community events had led some to think he was sympathetic to the Palestinian viewpoint on Middle East politics. Obama publicly expresses a pro-Israel viewpoint that pleases many Jewish leaders.
In reporting on Obama's presence at the dinner for Khalidi, the article noted that some speakers expressed anger at Israel and at U.S. foreign policy, but that Obama in his comments called for finding common ground.
I emphasized that portion of the quote because, holy shit... SIX MONTHS AGO? REALLY? If this is best 'scandal' you've got brewing Diddy, I wish you luck.

And Barack Obama is not 'delaying the World Series game with an infomercial' either:
[T]he Fox account executive who negotiated the ad buy said Obama's ad isn't delaying the first pitch -- it's just replacing the pre-game show.
...
"We didn’t push back the game at all," he said. He also said Obama had initially arranged to buy the time only if the Series were over before Game Six (in fact, a rain-delayed Game Five will continue tomorrow night), but Fox then decided to sell the campaign the time whether or not the game was played.
"By no means did they push to get us to accommodate them with Game Six," said Coppola, whom the Obama campaign suggested I call. "We’re just missing the pregame, which isn’t a big deal for us. It was a business decision."
Not Another One?!
Obama fans of this blog call me a "distracter" everytime I bring stuff like this up. But the list just keeps on growing.
The Los Angeles Times is refusing to release a videotape that it says shows Barack Obama praising a Chicago professor who was an alleged mouthpiece for the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was a designated terrorist group in the 1970s and '80s. According an LA Times article written by Peter Wallsten in April, Obama was a "friend and frequent dinner companion" of Rashid Khalidi, who from 1976 to1982 was reportedly a director of the official Palestinian press agency, WAFA, which was operating in exile from Beirut with the PLO.
Hey remeber when the Democrats went ape-shit on Trent Lott for toasting Strom Thurmond at a dinner? I'm just glad they hold their presidential candidate to the same standard of not surrounding himself with questionable people. Hypocrisy.

Get Wet For Change
Via Fox News (yes, that Fox News):
As McCain Cancels, Obama Rallies
CHESTER, PA - Dressed in blue jeans and a black jacket, Barack Obama braved the cold rain falling in Pennsylvania, and held his scheduled rally - outdoors. “A little bit of rain never hurt anybody,” he quipped to the 9,000 who showed up in ponchos and futilely holding umbrellas.
Just an hour away in Quakertown, the rival ticket cancelled their own outdoor rally due to inclement weather. Unfazed, Obama incorporated the conditions into his speech.
“I just want all of you to know if we see this kind of dedication on election day – there is no way that we’re not going to bring change to America,” he said as the soggy crowd cheered.
A Vote For Obama = Eternal Damnation
I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say it:
Head nod: Ben Smith
To all those who name the name of Christ who plan to willfully disobey Him by voting for Obama, take warning. Not only is our nation in grave danger, according to the Word of God, so are you ... [T]his election is not about race. It's not about the economy. It's about obeying God.Yes folks, you read correctly. If you vote for Barack Obama, you will go to Hell. Wow.
...
Be forewarned: If you willfully disobey God on life and marriage because of race or false hope for the economy, you will usher in the kind of change that brought the Soviet Union to collapse.
But the warning goes far beyond that. To those who think that God's grace gives them license to willfully disobey Him without consequences – think again:
Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:21-23)
That deals with your eternity.
Head nod: Ben Smith
Good For Charlie Crist
The Buzz:
Although, I'm sure there are some pretty angry McCain staffers calling Crist's office right now.
At a hastily arranged news conference, Crist said the right to vote is sacred and that "many have fought and died for this right." He said he consulted a leading Democratic legislator, Rep. Dan Gelber of Miami Beach, before issuing his order, and that Gelber knew of a similar order issued by Gov. Jeb Bush in 2002 that dealt with helping voters deal with new equipment.Ben Smith:
As to the perception that more early voting helps Democrats, Crist said: "This is not a political decision. This is a people decision."
This is a very big deal: Florida Governor Charlie Crist, to the shock and dismay of Florida Republicans, just moved to extend early voting hours, a move likely to widen the Democrats' lead under a program on which the Obama campaign has intensely focused.Good for Crist. Making 'people decisions' is what he was hired to do when the voters elected him.
"He just blew Florida for John McCain," one plugged in Florida Republican just told me.
Although, I'm sure there are some pretty angry McCain staffers calling Crist's office right now.

[MSNBC] is "completely out of control," said writer-producer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, a self-proclaimed liberal Democrat. For the record, I still like MSNBC. I think that Olbie gets a little wild sometimes -- but that does not mean that he is any worse than Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, Medved, et al on the right.

Sullivan on the reported infighting betwixt the McCain and Palin forces.
It's a massive, unmissable clusterfuck and has been for two months. They just can't hide it any longer. And the pick is a devastating one - because it basically destroys John McCain's credibility as a presidential decision-maker.The rest here. He does not mince words.
Rift

[Y]ou are seeing people within the McCain campaign starting to look to the future. Is this the beginning of the end for the McCain campaign? As I recall, Hillary Clinton's campaign started eating each other alive in the waning days of the Democratic primary race. Are these similar symptoms?
Not only Palin, but many of the McCain staffers, as well, are circulating their resumes and pointing the finger.
Whenever people in the campaign are starting to worry more about their own reputations rather than whether they're going to win in seven days, there is a significant problem.
The 'Liberal Media' Bias
An incredibly interesting take on media bias at the Politico. Money:
There have been moments in the general election when the one-sidedness of our site — when nearly every story was some variation on how poorly McCain was doing or how well Barack Obama was faring — has made us cringe. The rest can be found here.
As it happens, McCain’s campaign is going quite poorly and Obama’s is going well. Imposing artificial balance on this reality would be a bias of its own.
McCain The Redistributor
I have a problem with John McCain's recent rhetorical tack. He and his surrogates have been claiming that Barack Obama wants to redistribute the wealth in our country. To 'spread the wealth around', as it were.
While that sounds great in a soundbite, and now crowds at McCain rallies are yelling "redistributor" when Obama's name is invoked, the truth is very bad for McCain. John McCain is also a 'redistributor' of wealth.
I was watching Morning Joe this morning and John Harwood of the New York Times made a great point: This 'redistributor' attack is ridiculous.
John McCain favors a progressive tax system.
John McCain favors refundable tax credits for health care.
Both of these proposals can be classified as a form of 'redistribution of wealth'. John McCain is as much a 'redistributor' as Barack Obama is.
Oh, and this is FAR from socialism.

John McCain Takes A Hard Line
On Ted Stevens' verdict of guilty:
UPDATE:::
Sarah Palin agrees.
"It is clear that Sen. Stevens has broken his trust with the people and that he should now step down," McCain said. "I hope that my colleagues in the Senate will be spurred by these events to redouble their efforts to end this kind of corruption once and for all."Impressive.
UPDATE:::
Sarah Palin agrees.
A Democratic Take-Over?
John McCain has finally done it.When looking for a cohesive proposition against electing Barack Obama, the McCain campaign finally has found their footing. It's too bad that there is only a week left before the election.
I have to be completely honest here. While I am an ardent Barack Obama supporter, the idea of one-party majority in both houses of Congress, as well as the Executive branch, makes me somewhat uncomfortable. Granted, as OB pointed out in a comment here yesterday, "If the founding fathers intended for all the branches of government to have different majorities, don't you think they would have put that in the constitution?" Indeed. However, that doesn't mean that I have to like the Democrats being in charge of everything.
The rational side of my brain is telling me not worry. if elected, Barack Obama will likely -- as
My point in saying all of this is not to get my progressive friends in a tizzy. Conversely, I say this to lavish some praise on the McCain campaign (right now Diddy is sh*tting his pants). If this is something that I am somewhat worried about -- then it is an argument that the McCain campaign should have been making months ago to the entire American electorate. The McCain camp should be hitting these talking points HARD for the next seven days: 'If you elect Barack Obama, there will be Democrats in the highest seats of power in two out of three branches of government. Do you really want Democrats with all of that power?'
Rather than taking to the airwaves and PO boxes with ads and mailers that say, 'Oh no, lookout! Obama is buddies with an unrepentant terrorist!', the McCain campaign and the RNC should have been stressing the idea that a one-party majority in government is bad. Hell, they could even have cited the first six years of the Bush administration. How better to state your case while at the same time hitting George W. Bush and the Republican party? I would say that would have been a winning argument -- particularly because it would help to break away from the 'McSame' progressive talking-points.
The problem for McCain and his supporters is that this new assertion is too little, too late. While it may have gotten some traction with the voters 30-60 days ago, Republicans were so worried about making Obama seem like a socialist (don't even get me started on that one) that they dropped the proverbial ball. Now that ball has bounced down the driveway and out into traffic, unreachable by the campaign -- yet still somewhat close. Unfortunate.
I will still hold out hope that Democrats running most of the show in Washington, D.C. will not bankrupt our country. Then again, could things really get much worse than they are right now?
Probably not.

Last week, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) squared off in a debate with Democratic challenger Bruce Lunsford. But on Lunsford's podium a GOP operative had placed a small voice recorder, presumably to pick up some off-mic comments Lunsford might make -- apparently a violation of the debate rules. You have to read the rest of the article -- as it is truly unreal. The campaigns are fighting over the return of an unethically placed recording device. Ugh.

Obama Wins!
Not so fast:
Unless I am missing something, The New Mexico Sun News is trying to sell newspapers. Think about it: no matter who wins next week, they get to have printed a collector's item. If Obama wins, they were the first paper to print it. If McCain wins, then they get to be the paper that f**ked up -- so reminiscent of the "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline.
Either way, they sell a crapload of newspapers. And with print circulation as low as it is right now, they likely need the boost.
Simply put: this is a publicity stunt. And a pretty lame one at that.
For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or “Dewey Beats Truman” déjà vu 60 years later.Vast brought this story to my attention and I have to say that it's pretty lame.
“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface.

Sarah Palin: Classy
Another racist McCain/Palin supporter.
Normally, I would say that the person behind the podium usually wouldn't have been able to hear someone yelling random things -- therefore should not be held responsible in any way. However, in this clip, Palin appears to have heard the epithet -- and yet continues her speech without addressing it.
Sad.
UPDATE:::
Via the Dish, it turns out that the woman does not yell the epithet that the clip alleges. After playing it several times, I concur with Sullivan's finding.

Whew. I just got back from pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, making phone class, etc for John McCain in PA! The excitement is in the air. We aren't reading the polls...we are feeling the energy...and we're ready to roll next week!
So I come back to PJ's blog and what do I see...a WHOLE LOTTA NOTHING! PJ's just blogging away with his liberal talking points...distractions with his obsession of Sarah Palin's clothes...the not-so-humorous SNL skits...and that's about it! What happened?! Have you people been lacking in political discourse? This blog is about as boring as an Oliver Stone movie (that's right...I said it).
I see Joe Biden is still making gaffes and the media could care less. Good to see nothing's changed there.
I see John McCain is working OT...more than any 72 year old should...to assure a victory next week.
I see Barack Obama has planned his celebration party in Chicago next Tuesday. His greek columns passed me on the highway today.
I see Sarah Palin brought along the only sane person on "The View" this past weekend. I love both of those mothers.
This election ain't over. McCain/Obama are within margin of error in all but 1 battleground states. MSNBC has decided Obama has won VA and CO...were they the first network to declare Al Gore the winner in 2000 or was it someone else?
I am not delcaring victory. I am not admitting defeat. This thing is going to be a good one. Whether Obama landslides it next Tuesday or McCain wins it by 2 points...McCain is fighting a good fight and that video about Obama's redistribution of wealth comments today don't hurt McCain. Of course, I didn't see MSNBC.com or CNN.com covering that...it must be more of a distraction that Sarah Palin's shoes.
Either way...I get to see Johnny Mac and Sarah P tomorrow morning in Central PA...and what a morning it's gonna be!

Ted Stevens: Guilty

On all seven counts:
Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) was convicted today on seven counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in improper gifts he received from 1999 to 2006, a stunning blow to a political career that has lasted more than 40 years and marked Alaska’s entire history as a part of the United States.------

The End Of Days:
If Obama wins the Democrats will be in control of all three chambers. There will be no “check and balance” as the Founders intended. Obama and others he will put in positions of power will bring about a liberal tsunami that will sweep this nation clean of any pretense of a free and sovereign nation. The dream of many Americans to make their lives better through hard work and perseverance will be just that - a dream.- Sadie Fields, Georgia Christian Alliance
The damage done under an Obama regime will be undoable in years to come.
Combine a President Obama, a Democrat-controlled Congress, and appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court — the country I grew up in will be no more.
Redistribution of the wealth, same sex marriage, universal health care, gun control, and every other off-the-wall, socialistic idea will become reality.

We have learnt a lot about Barack Obama and John McCain during this campaign. In our view, it is enough to be confident that Mr Obama is the right choice.
At the outset, we were not so confident. Mr Obama is inexperienced. His policies are a blend of good, not so good and downright bad. Since the election will strengthen Democratic control of Congress, a case can be made for returning a Republican to the White House: divided government has a better record in the United States than government united under either party.
So this ought to have been a close call. With a week remaining before the election, we cannot feel that it is.
Mr Obama fought a much better campaign. Campaigning is not the same as governing, and the presidency should not be a prize for giving the best speeches, devising the best television advertisements, shaking the most hands and kissing the most babies.
Nonetheless, a campaign is a test of leadership. Mr Obama ran his superbly; Mr McCain’s has often looked a shambles. After eight years of George W. Bush, the steady competence of the Obama operation commands respect.

Lieberman: Obama Is (Essentially) Ready
Open mouth, insert foot:
That little 'as' will play. Lieberman has been spouting Republican talking points for months. I agree with Hertzberg -- if Lieberman truly believes that McCain will be a better president, that is fine. But to attack Obama's integrity and character as he has done -- and then seemingly admit that Obama is ready to be president (maybe not 'as' ready as McCain, but ready nonetheless) is simply strange.
“[John McCain] is ready to be our president at this very difficult time,” Lieberman said. “And Sen. Obama is not as ready. It’s as direct as that.”My emphasis.

Why do they keep talking about it?
John McCain might as well start reminding people that he's got like 37 houses and 173 cars...

DE-FENSE (*Thump, Thump, Thump*)
Zogby:
Virginia: Obama 52%, McCain 45%.McCain is now playing defense in states that George W. Bush won in 2000 and 2004. And yet, he campaigns in places like Iowa. Why?
Ohio: Obama 50%, McCain 45%.
Nevada: Obama 48%, McCain 44%.
Missouri: Obama 48%, McCain 46%.
North Carolina: Obama 50%, McCain 46%.
Florida: Obama 47%, McCain 47% (Obama 47.2%, McCain 46.9%).
Indiana: McCain 50%, Obama 44%.
West Virginia: McCain 50%, Obama 40%.
Wardrobe Malfunction
Ridiculous indeed:
What does anger me is the double-standard here. At nearly every campaign stop, it seems that I hear Governor Palin saying something to the effect of, 'I'm a small-town hockey-mom who shops at Wal-Mart.' So, to continue to try to pass yourself off as a 'regular Joe Six-Pack', and yet shop at a Barney's or Saks Fifth Avenue is simply being a two-faced poser.
Oh, and I also think this is a political distraction as what a president or vice-president wears is thoroughly inconsequential when it comes to governance. But, as CNN's article put it, "Ensuring that news of the Republican National Committee's sartorial spending spree will remain in the headlines for at least one more news cycle, Sarah Palin on Sunday sounded off on the $150,000 wardrobe..." -- so, I'm not the one continuing to bring it up.
[I]n Tampa, Palin happily broached the clothing issue after being introduced by "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who accused Palin's opponents of being "fixated on her wardrobe" and "deliberately sexist."Hello? Sarah? Elisabeth? You just don't get it. I'm not angry about Palin's clothing or accessories. I'm not angry that she was shopping in ridiculously expensive stores using money donated to the RNC by hardworking Americans. After all, I haven't donated a penny to the RNC.
That opened the door for Palin to weigh in on a topic that has frustrated the candidate and her advisers since the story first broke five days ago.
"This whole thing with the wardrobe, you know I have tried to just ignore it because it is so ridiculous, but I am glad now that Elisabeth brought it up, cause it gives me an opportunity without the filter of the media to get to tell you the whole clothes thing," she said.

Palin: Just Plain Lying
'Going further than the facts':
The New York Times reported Saturday that Obama’s transition leader, John Podesta, drafted a sample inaugural speech in a book penned this summer. (Podesta served as an advisor earlier this year to Obama's opponent Hillary Clinton.)So I guess straight up lying to your supporters is okay now...
Palin, speaking Sunday at the Silver Spurs Agenda, suggested that Obama had already penned the inaugural speech himself.
“Just yesterday, the New York Times reported that Barack Obama has already written his inaugural address,” she said. Earlier in the day, she told a crowd in Tampa that Obama’s “inaugural speech is already written,” perhaps a more accurate description.

SNL: Bringing Back Maya
Awesome:
In case you are unfamiliar with Bronx Beat...
Since they've had great success with Tina Fey and Will Ferrell, well placed sources tell us "SNL" is once again bringing back a former cast member ... Maya Rudolph will play Michelle Obama this weekend.Bronx Beat is one of the funniest sketches that Maya Rudolph does -- not to mention her impression of Donatella Versace.
Besides playing Mrs. O, we're told Maya -- who left the show last November -- will once again co-star with Amy Poehler in their "Bronx Beat" skit.

Barr: 'McCain Will Lose Georgia'
Libertarian presidential candidate and former representative of the 7th District of Georgia, Bob Barr:
"Senator John McCain will not win Georgia," predicts Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party nominee for president. "His shrinking poll numbers are an indication that McCain is losing touch with the American public as we get closer to November 4th."Head nod: Ben Smith
The Obama Campaign's Ground-Game
Crazy:
1) The campaign's ground-game, as evidenced by this info from Ohio.
2) Sarah Palin.

Some numbers from an Obama campaign release on what its doing in Ohio:When this is all said and done, if Barack Obama wins, there are going to be two main factors that I believe will have led to his campaign's victory:
340,846 --- Number of doors knocked this weekend
483,473 --- Number of doors knocked last week
1,098,777 --- Total number of doors knocked in October
394,335 --- Phone calls placed to fellow Ohioans by volunteers across the state
1,224,684 --- Total calls made this month
38 --- Farthest distance, in miles, that any Ohioan lives from a Campaign for Change office

Injury, Meet Insult
Ahem:
"She just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," [Pittsburgh police Assistant Chief Maurita Bryant] said. "She was upset with the media for blowing this into a political firestorm."Right. Because it's the media's fault that you disfigured your face and fabricated a fairy-tale to blame it on a person of color. That damn liberal media...

I ask this, not out of a concern for his campaign -- simply for some balance on my friggin' blog. Every time the page loads, there is at LEAST one McCain campaign ad. I never see Obama campaign ads.
I'm just sayin'...
Although, Diddy would likely point out that despite the heavy rotation of 'Joe The (f**kin') Plumber' ads everywhere on this blog, I rebut any positive McCain spin with my prObama rhetoric, no?
Yeah.
Vet Who Didn't Vet
I'm all for great political videos. This one is one of the better I've seen. Very creative and intelligent.
