What The F**k?

Today in What The F**k, we examine the seemingly perpetual idiocy of some Congressional Republicans (not to mention the Bush administration).

The Hill has an interesting article regarding the feelings of several congressmen as well as polling numbers for Congress, the White House as well as the war in Iraq.

"Republicans fear another beating". Excuse me for saying so, but...

NO. SHIT.

For the next couple of sentences, I'm going to speak in generalities - so please forgive me if you think that a handful of Congressional Republicans are doing a good job (as I'm sure there are).

I'm sorry, but the GOP let the ENTIRE country down. Period. End of sentence. Do you remember the lessons that were were taught in grade school? You know, the stuff about Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin, The original George W. and the entire posse that bucked the system and formed a nation "For the people, by the people and of the people" (as Lincoln described it). Yeah, those lessons that we learned as CHILDREN taught us that there are THREE branches of government; the Legislative, the Judicial and the Executive. These three branches were designed to keep each other in check - hence the phrase "checks and balances" - so that one branch (the Executive in particular) could not amass more power than the others.

Thanks to our friends in the Republican party, those "checks" were chucked right out of the window. In the past six years there has been NO check on the Executive. None.

Now, we find ourselves asking TONS of questions about the Bush administration - and getting stonewalled trying to find the answers.

It's time to wake up America. Let's get some answers - and restore the "checks and balances".
