They Don't Mess Around In China

Wow. Zheng Xiaoyu, the former head of the Chinese equivalent of the Food & Drug Administration, was executed for - amongst other corruption charges - "approving fake medicine in exchange for cash".

The Chinese don't fool around when it comes to corruption in product safety. And for good reason - the Beijing Olympics are coming next summer.

I'm not in favor of the death penalty, but, maybe we should start executing corrupt government officials. At least the prospect of death would keep people honest...

This space is designed for thoughtful commentary on politics and media (and whatever else comes to mind). The Pajama Pundit welcomes people from all political stripes to voice opinions freely and without fear of mean-spirited attacks. He does however expect intelligent discussion -- and some understanding of proper grammar usage.
