Arlen Specter (R-Pa) is one of my senators. Not only is he from Pennsylvania - but he is also a moderate Republican. Therefore, I feel both a geographic and a political kindred spirit betwixt us.
Now, he is researching what both Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito testified to the Senate Judiciary committee during both of their hearings. The Specter inquiry poses a potential political problem for the GOP and future nominees because Democrats are increasingly complaining that the Supreme Court moved quicker and more dramatically than advertised to overturn or chip away at prior decisions.
Indeed. One would assume that the judges who sit on the highest court in the land would "respect legal precedents".
Specter, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, who served as chairman during the hearings, said he wants to examine whether Roberts and Alito have "lived up" to their assurances that they would respect legal precedents.

The Specter In The Supreme Court
This space is designed for thoughtful commentary on politics and media (and whatever else comes to mind). The Pajama Pundit welcomes people from all political stripes to voice opinions freely and without fear of mean-spirited attacks. He does however expect intelligent discussion -- and some understanding of proper grammar usage.
