Pornoromney

Really Mitt? You want to rid the nation's computers of pornography? You want to see less sex & violence on TV and in the movies?

Well, as Jerry Seinfeld once said, "Good luck with all that."

Here's a good thought:

Politics cannot solve these issues. It is ridiculous to even be discussing them. There isn't any bill that is going to get parents to turn off computers and there shouldn't be any such bill even if it would work. This is not the work of government. It is the work of families, it is the work of houses of worship - it is the stuff of faith.

But more than any of these matters what an ad like this suggests is that a vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for an America where heaven and earth are a bit closer together.

An ad like this seduces Christian voters in particular into thinking that to vote for Romney is usher in the kind of America that is kinder and calmer and cleaner than the one that currently exists. But that is a cheap out. That isn't ever going to happen through politics. It will only happen through faith - through the tough, hard, every day work of faith...loving neighbors, being self sacrificial, living as Jesus taught his followers to live.

Yes. I'd even give that one an 'AMEN!'.

This is what I've been screaming about ever since I started to get politically minded - way back when I was a big listener of the Howard Stern Show. Stern and his band of misfits were simply getting pummeled by the FCC. Fine after fine - and the only apparent reason for the fines were complaints from right-wing outfits designed to push a religious agenda, and censor anything that was deemed 'indecent'.

Mr. Romney feels that porn and violent video games are the reason that our country is effed-up. Well, I have news for you Mitt: 1) you can't blame those things (TV, movies, the Internets) - you have to blame the PARENTS and 2) our country is pretty great, if you can get past the Iraq stuff and the policies of torture and nation building and..........

But I digress...

Mr. Romney, taking those 'negative' images off of kids' computers and TV screens will not restore the nation to the age of the Beaver. [wow, that sentence sounds a lot worse out loud] REAL parenting will do the trick. Instead of trying to take things away from people - as others in your party would do - I think that you should try giving people help. Help teach that young parent what NOT to let their child watch or listen to - but don't mandate it by making it a law.

That's just f**ked-up.

I didn't even have to read your head nod, I knew that was Kuo. I really like him! I couldn't agree with you both more!
